Happy 2013! The past year was awesome and I think it will get even better this year :) Looking forward to more interesting and challenging projects this year. As I continue slogging to finish up my clay flower course, I hope to launch some new creations on Etsy some time in Mar/Apr this year. Preparations are on-going but I wish I have more time! So watch out for that.
I recently conducted a fun clay class for my girl friends. If you are interested in customised private workshop for your tea parties, bridal showers, drop me a note to find out more. Have a fantastic year ahead!

Time to get back into action
Was out of town for 3wks working and travelling in Yeosu and Seoul, Korea. Love the food and shopping in Seoul. Especially with the summer sales, it was crazyyy or at least I went crazy. Yeosu in contrast was a quiet coastal state of approximately 300,000 inhabitants that had some buzz added because of the Yeosu Expo Korea held there from May-Aug. Visited the really small shopping street called Jinamgan in Yeosu without much expectations but found a rare gem called VINTAGE :) I have a soft spot for all things vintage.
Every time I visit these vintage inspired shops, I dream of owning one too with a little cafe corner, a crafting corner and a space to sell some knick knacks. Now that I am back home and very much back to reality (unfortunately) time to snap out of my day dreaming. Dawnut's Factory is in operation again after 3wks break to meet the next order deadline in 5 wks! (But I will be flying off to UK next wk for a week or so, hope to get some interesting finds at Alfie's Antique Market ;p)
Lovely shop with a lovely lady boss....
Some interesting finds in Itaewon, Seoul too....

Dawnut goes to school!
Started my clay craft course this week and went for my first lesson on Tuesday. For the first part of the curriculum, I have to complete a variety of 10 projects. The first project was to decorate a mirror using soft clay. From the frame to the embellishments, though not many items, it actually took me 2hours to complete. The roses were definitely easier to mould compared to the gardenia that I did during the intro class. From this simple assignment, I learnt quite a few techniques and tips which I wouldn't have known if I just relied on the instructional dvd that I got off the net. Learning the clay craft will give me more options to play with when creating new works :) Looking forward to classes next wk! Check out all my works here.

Mission: Edmund & Celine
My really good friend Edmund is getting married at the end of the year and coincidently it is on my bday! The couple will be having their pre-wedding photoshoot done later this month and so I offered to lend them some of my knick knacks to make the shoot more fun :) From umbrella to lunar calendar etc, he went back with a big bag of stuff to discuss with Celine hehe.
While I was rummaging through my room for stuff, Ed was going through my cds and song compilations to find suitable songs he could use for the wedding video etc. Yup, he is planning to put together the video on his own. Waiting to see the first cut! Once the shoot and video are done, we will start discussing on the ideas for the wedding day. Can't wait! =))

Stamp stamp away!
Collected my rubber stamp yesterday! At first I was a little worried if the fonts would come out nicely as it was not the regular font type. But I am extremely pleased with the outcome :) Another new toy to play around with!

For a worthy cause
Glad to be involved in the fundraising event by The Intan for the young cancer patients at ARC Children's Centre. Was asked by my friend Alvin if I could design a flyer and of course I agreed without hesitation since it was for such a good cause!
If you have the means to help, do make a donation :) No amount is too small~

All about Dawnut
Dawnut, a nickname given to me by my good pal Timo way back in secondary school. He must have been craving for doughnuts when Dawnut came into his mind. Since then, Dawnut has been pretty much a part of me. So this blog name came to mind quite naturally.I had an interest in doing craftwork since I was 5. My mum would send me to the neighbourhood Community Centre (now called Community Club) for craftwork classes during school holidays. And each time at the end of class, I would walk out proud and happy with my masterpieces.
I think my mum's motive then was probably to get some peace and quiet for at least 2-3hrs. She claimed that I was a very talkative kid and silence around the house meant that I probably dozed off. But well, I guess she didn't expect that I got hooked onto craftwork till today :)
Over the years, I picked up a variety of craftwork from origami, 'friendship bands', beaded jewellery during my pre university years to bear making, quilting and clothes making in recent years. Hobbies to keep myself occupied during my free time and sources of inspiration for unique handmade gift ideas for friends and family.
I like creating new things and exploring interesting ways of doing craftwork. Perhaps after seeing my creative works, friends started asking me to design and create items for their happily ever after events. You can browse my works by clicking the page links on the left side of this page. If there is something I can do for you, drop me a line at dawnutsfactory@gmail.com.
Cheers!
Dawn ^-^
